Are you tired of constantly reading up on marketing or attending talks on boosting your sales? For a breath of fresh air, here are marketing movies you can watch to be motivated, informed, and still entertained.

Thank You for Smoking (2005)

Lobbyist and spokesperson Nick Taylor’s goal is simple: to advocate tobacco smoking for his company. Through a series of publicity stunts and constant damage control in the media, he was able to use his charm and wit as a marketer and public relations expert in making smoking look good despite the negative perception and health concerns.

This film showed not only the true power of marketing, but also the questions in ethics that go along with it.

The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)

The biopic reveals the life of Christopher Gardner before his success in stock broking. This is not entirely about marketing, but is definitely an inspirational boost if you’re feeling down or lost at the moment. Gardner struggled interning for a stock broking firm for free while taking care of his five year old son, being homeless, moving on after his wife left him, and selling out of date medical equipment as their means of living.

The man proved how resiliency, a positive outlook in life, and of course raw talent can outweigh all the challenges and failures in pursuing one’s dreams.

Boiler Room (2000)

In an attempt to win back his father’s affection, a college dropout enters the world of stock brokering, where it can be as ruthless as ever. There, he was able to succeed in procuring millions quickly and actually live the life for a while, until he discovers that things might be too good to be true for him.

Learn a lot about the cold side of business and marketing in the movie, as well as be driven to strive harder in reaching the top of the industry ladder.
